ABOUT US
Education Center
For many people, the Vietnam War is part of the distant past. Some 40 % of the nearly forty million people that visit the Wall annually are too young to remember the Vietnam War. The names in the black granite are meaningless to these
people because they have no connection with them.
By sharing the faces and stories behind every infantry, office, and name, the Education Center at the Wall will enable future generations to understand the devotion, sacrifice, and courage of those who returned from the war and those
who died.
How to Get Involved
With a steadfast commitment to honoring and preserving the legacy of American veterans, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) has continuously prioritized its mission. The construction of the center solely relies on the generous
donations contributed by the American public. Generous contributions from the public are essential to support the funding needs of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and its important initiatives.
You can make a difference by contributing and helping the VVMF go beyond the names and tell different stories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect their country. Whether you are someone who is looking to making volunteer,
help to spread the word, is interested in honoring the Veterans, or just wish to make a donation, here is how you can get started:
Donate
The Education Center needs your help and support, your donation will go a long way, and future generations will remember your contributions.
Become a Volunteer
Even one person can make a massive difference, whether by presenting at local meetings, collecting photos, or simply spreading the word. We need you if you are willing to do these things for our sake.
Spread the Word
Help the VVMF spread the word about the education center to all corners of the United States. You can start by emailing your co-workers, friends, and family members. This small step will make a big difference.
The Hometown Hero Initiative
This program enables a community to come together and contribute to the education center in honor of those names on The Wall.
Like the Wall, the 2nd most visited place in Washington D.C., the education center will be constructed with private funds donated by the American public. To preserve this Wall and the other memorials in the National Mall, the two-story
education building will be 100 % underground.
There will be many exhibits in the education facility, such as photographs of those individuals whose names are on the Wall. There will also be a display of over 100 items from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which indicates a timeline
of important events.
The education center at The Wall will celebrate the values every American service member embodies. These values are courage, integrity, honor, service, respect, duty, and loyalty. An exit exhibit will showcase images of people serving
in various American conflicts, such as the Iraqi Revolution.
So far, more than $ 20 million have been raised for the education center at The Wall. $ 10 million came as a gift from Time Warner, and the estimated construction cost of the center is around $ 85 million.
